Abhijit Sarkar
Abhijit Sarkar is a senior research associate in the Division of Freight, Transit, and Heavy Vehicle Safety at VTTI. He currently leads the Advanced Analytics in Behavior, Perception, and Safety team. Research of his team focuses on application of computer vision, machine learning, and big data analysis in transportation safety, driver distraction, transportation policy, and highly automated commercial vehicles. His team also works on remote measurement of vital signs to study psychophysiology. He received his doctoral degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. He holds an MTech in control systems engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Jadavpur University, India.
