Student Summer Research Presentations and Award Ceremony

October 28, 2024

The Center for Future Work Places and Practices (CFWPP) at Virginia Tech hosted its first Student Summer Research Presentations and Award Ceremony on October 28th at the Moss Arts Center. This event underscored the center's dedication to transdisciplinary research and innovation, bringing together a diverse group of students and faculty committed to exploring the evolving landscape of work.

Dr. Suqin Ge, the Director of CFWPP, gave an opening remark that highlighted the importance of celebrating the innovative spirits of students who were making strides in their fields, and she thanked Lucy Qiu and David Wang for their generous support for the CFWPP summer student research program. Four students received the 2024 CFWPP student summer research awards, and they are Mary Frazier (graduate student, Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise), Yuxuan Guo (junior, Computer Science), Zeyuan Hou (graduate student, Electrical and Computer Engineering), and Sakshi Taori (graduate student, Industrial and Systems Engineering). Each of them gave a presentation to the CFWPP executive committee. The research projects covered a wide range of topics, including wellness interventions for community health educators, the use of AI to improve remote workers’ efficiency, global semiconductor industry trend analysis, and cognitive workload prediction of teleoperators. The presentations were followed by a live Q&A session and an award ceremony, where each award recipient was presented a certificate to recognize their hard work and creativity.
