S. Jack Hu Speaks on “Catalyzing Interdisciplinary Research”

We are very excited to have Dr. S. Jack Hu visit Virginia Tech and give a Distinguished Public Lecture on April 25th. Dr. Hu is the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at the University of Georgia (UGA). He also serves as a UGA Foundation Distinguished Professor in the College of Engineering. As UGA’s chief academic officer, Dr. Hu works to advance the university’s excellence in teaching, research, and public service and outreach. Dr. Hu is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and an elected Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP), and the National Academy of Inventors.  In this public lecture, Dr. Hu will share his insights on how to catalyze interdisciplinary research through faculty cluster hires and creative mechanisms of seed funding.

The event is hosted by Virginia Tech Chinese American Faculty Alliance (CAFA), in collaboration with Faculty Affairs, Office of Research and Innovation, and the Center for Future Work Places and Practices. Light refreshments will be served at Lower Quad between 4:30 – 5:30 pm after the talk.
